Radiative Fluxes and Heating Rates

The detailed way in which light interacts with the surface and atmosphere affects the conditions of the planet. Surface and atmospheric heating are modified by atmospheric constituents (like carbon dioxide and water vapor) and the temperature of the atmosphere determines where clouds form. The heating rates, determined by incoming solar radiation, interact with the climate model.
